Summer Camp: Fun, Friendship & Plenty of Wow Moments!
What a summer it was! We welcomed 62 children to Summer Camp, including some new faces joining the programme for the first time. They settled in brilliantly and were an absolute joy to get to know. Our returning KOT children were fantastic too — friendly, welcoming and quick to make new friends. Some great KOT qualities were on show!
A huge shout-out to our amazing volunteers, who brought so much energy, enthusiasm and creativity to the week. From Arts & Crafts and cookery to cricket and getting behind the BBQ on the final day, they were at the heart of the fun. Letitia Adams had the fantastic idea of teaming up cookery with art, it was a huge success! The children made their own granola before designing and branding their very own packaging, kindly sourced by Letitia. Our marketing intern graduate, Holly P, shared her marketing and branding know-how, giving the children a real taste of how ideas can be turned into a brand.
We also welcomed Harry from Little Kickers to camp for the first time, and he received rave reviews! He delivered professional football coaching and introduced the children to some of the essential skills. Karate was another big hit, with everyone getting to grips with finding their Gi, while skateboarding and micro-scooting with Team Rubicon, who visit schools across Hampshire, brought plenty of excitement. This fantastic activity was very kindly sponsored by one of KOT’s supporters, thank you!
And then came Graduation Day…
Day 3 was our much-anticipated Graduation Day, and what a day it was! Sharky & George took over, bringing their trademark fun, energy and fantastic interactive games. Then came the sound of the ice cream van bell, as Mr Marucci proudly announced its arrival — another treat generously sponsored by one of our supporters.
The day ended with a very British-style finale — a timely downpour! But the rain couldn’t dampen the celebrations. We proudly presented our graduating children with their KOT hoodies and framed certificates, celebrating everything they had achieved. We are incredibly proud of them and can’t wait to see how they continue to grow, learn and flourish through our fantastic Senior Programme.
A special thank you to Tesco, who kindly donated food for snacks and bottles of water, and to our wonderful volunteers, who give so generously of their time, energy, understanding and — perhaps most importantly — their big smiles! You help make KOT camps such a special experience for our children.
