Mr Wizzo, History’s Maid, Medieval Jousting, encampments from the Iron Age to the Cold War … which way to turn, what to do first? 15 children from our Senior Programme were invited to the Chalke Valley History Festival in June and had the BEST time, dashing from one activity to the next so they didn’t miss a thing. They tried on helmets, they saw how dye was made, they watched blacksmiths and stonemasons ply their trade. They learned about the training involved in becoming a Knight or a Secret Agent and for the grande finale they went into the trenches to learn about the Battle of Arnhem Bridge. What an amazing, exhilarating experience – we hope to be back next year!
