Home Mentoring

Our Mentoring Programme provides positive role models to help improve self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

The Mentoring Programme focuses on a select amount of children who we recognise need a teeny bit more support than others.

We will carefully match them with an adult who will help them navigate any complexities or challenges they may face whilst guiding them to reach their full potential.

As the children reach Years 10 and 11 we aim to raise their aspirations and reveal the opportunities available to them through collaborations with local businesses.

Our mentoring stories

Rich & Cody

Rich & Cody were teamed up in 2022 and they have not looked back. They meet up on a monthly basis and have established a strong and mutually rewarding relationship.

Rich:
“The genius of KoT to me is the simplicity and direct impact. Simple gestures such as a chat over a hot chocolate or an hour at the golf range means the world to the kids. Occasionally we strike on an issue to overcome but often it’s just a fun hour for both of us, learning from each other as we go.”

Cody:
“Mentoring has been SO much fun. It’s brilliant being with Rich he makes me laugh but he also helps me if I need to work through something difficult. I love our golf sessions.”

Charlotte & Trinity

Since 2021, Charlotte & Trinity have proved to be a winning combination. Like so many of our mentors, Charlotte’s commitment has been incredible and they are both now reaping the rewards.

Charlotte:
KoT is such a wonderful charity to be a part of and it has been so rewarding to spend time with Trinity over the last couple of years. I feel that I have gained her trust, she has grown in confidence and she knows that I am here to support her anytime. Our activities range from going to the library, walking the dog, enjoying a good chat over a toastie and a milkshake and going for a birthday treat to the hairdressers. I was so proud of her when she did a reading at the recent annual KoT carol service at St Mary’s Church.

Trinity:
“The KoT Mentoring Programme has been a really good experience for me. I enjoy this because Charlotte and I can have one on one time and I can speak to her about my problems.”

“Being a mentor has proved to be a seriously rewarding experience and I love our regular catch ups.”
“A huge privilege and I have never looked back, thank you for the opportunity.”
“One of the most rewarding experiences; I have learnt so much and love our monthly catch ups.”
“An amazing opportunity for us both, it’s been a privilege from start to finish.”
“Sometimes we just walk & talk. Other times, we indulge in hot chocolate & cake and plot together our next outing – happy times.”
“It has been so exciting to see my mentee grow in confidence and to look ahead to the future with so much more positivity.”
